President Macron said at the Munich Security Conference this Saturday that Europe is “becoming a continent that doesn’t believe in its future.”

French President hits back Pompeo that “There is indeed a weakening of the West. 15 years ago, we thought our values were universal values, they will always rule the world, and we are dominant in terms of military technology and so on.” But in today’s world, “values have changed” and new powers have emerged singling out China and Russia.

US Defence Minister Mark Esper called US allies to wake up against threat of China. He said China is biggest threat to the world. China govt needs to change its policies and behaviours and stop showing aggressive military posture. If China will not change his ways and defending the systems, must be our collective effort to making common defence and greater investment in defence.

Qatar’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani said Saturday efforts to resolve a bitter Gulf dispute between Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt had not succeeded and were suspended at the start of January.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said winter will pass and spring will come soon. China vigorous methods and through measures are paying off. Epidemic  has posed serious challenge to China’s social and economic development. The difficulties will be temporary and short lived.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia has good ties with Turkey but will sometimes disagree. He said we have very good relations with Turkey, that does not mean we have to agree on everything. Meanwhile, Turkey said differences over Syria “shouldn’t affect” relations with Russia.

The conference was also attended by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Foreign Ministers of Iran, Javed Zareef and many others.
