#RUSSIA: Sechenov University of Russia has 20 years of experience in technology for producing vaccines helped to create Covid-19 vaccine in a very short period of time.

Sechenov University and the Gamalei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology in Moscow have 20 years of experience in developing technology to design a vaccine against any disease. They have become leaders and in global pharmaceutical industry due to their new competencies in drug development. The trial run for 2-3 years will give answer, how effective will be new drugs or vaccine. This innovative competencies are similar to Russia first Sputnik to space in 1957.

Russia has developed S-400, most advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Defence System (SAM). China is the first foreign buyer in 2014. Turkey has also received S-400 from Russia with the technology transfer in March 2020.

In 2019, President Putin and Erdogan have launched the TurkStream gas pipeline from Russia to Turkey. TurkStream is 910 km long and runs under the Black Sea. It will transfer 31.5 billion cubic meters (bmc) of gas per year and meet the energy demand of 15 million homes to Ankara and Istanbul. Putin said that the pipeline will make Turkey a “European Energy Hub.” 

In December 2019, President Putin and Xi Jinping launched 3,000-km-long gas pipeline, named “Power of Serbia” to transport natural gas from Siberia to northeast China. The pipeline will transport gas from Eastern Siberia for next three decades to China and would generate $400 billion for the Russian state.

China (38 bmc) will become Russia’s second-largest gas customer after Germany (58.50 bmc). Russia also supplies gas to China via a pipeline crossing Kazakhstan.

#TURKEY has strengthened its cooperation with Africa and Central Asian countries like Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan. Turkey’s opening up to Africa dates back to an action plan adopted in 1998. The year 2005 was declared the “Year of Africa” by Ankara and obtained observer status by the African Union (AU). Turkey has Military base in Sudan, Somalia and Qatar.

The AU declared Turkey its ‘Strategic Partner’ in 2008, and Ankara has donated millions of dollars for infrastructure development and sponsored hundreds of African students to study in Turkey. Turkey’s presence is felt across the African continent through Turkish Charity organizations TIKA and the Maarif Foundation.

Turkish Airlines flies to 315 destinations in 126 countries making it largest Airlines in the world. It operates to 60 destinations in 39 African countries.

In October 2019, Turkey-Georgia-Azerbaijan has launched 3500 km gas pipeline called Trans-Antolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP). TANAP will supply gas to Turkey’s 60 towns and provide jobs for 13,000 people. Erdogan named it  “SILK ROAD OF ENERGY”.

Last year, Norwegian oil company has discovered huge gas in Turkey’s Thrace Basin. Qatar has invested more than $20 billion in Turkey in last three years. Currently Turkey-UK trade is worth £18 billion ($23). Turkey and Russia are aiming for $100 billion trade volume in the future.

TANAP: Gas Pipeline
