[Apologies for a long post. Much of the online information on the tunnel networks in North Korea is propaganda from the colonial west, and one has to read between the lines.]
In a 2021 report, the center claimed that the North’s Korea Mining Development Trading Corporation had provided Hezbollah’s Jihad al-Bina construction firm with its cutting method and materials in a deal worth 13 million U.S. dollars. The report said the technology is also believed to have been transferred to Hamas for use in the excavation of tunnels that are referred to informally by Israel as the “Gaza Metro.”

The tunnel in Lebanon, which does not cross the border with Israel, is similar to the tunnel model in North Korea. The report further states that Hezbollah’s tunnel network was built with the help of a North Korean company called the Korea Mining Development Trading Corporation, a company specializing in the development of underground infrastructure.

The U.S. dropped more tons of bombs in Korea in 1950-1953 than in the Pacific during the whole of World War II. The result was described this way by U.S. General Emmett O’Donnell, head of the U.S. Air Force Bomber Command: “Everything is destroyed. There is nothing left standing worthy of the name.”
Before Congress, General MacArthur unwittingly admitted the exterminationist quality of the war he waged.
“The war in Korea has almost destroyed that nation of 20 million people,” he said.

Now there is more to add to the story of North Korean participation in the Vietnam War. Newly available Vietnamese documents reveal that in 1965 North Korea dispatched an engineer regiment to North Vietnam to help the North Vietnamese construct a secret underground headquarters complex.
The secret headquarters was specifically designed to provide protection against both bombs and chemical weapons.
The construction of the underground headquarters complex began in October 1965, after the arrival of the North Korean engineer regiment. The North Korean engineers, who clearly had considerable experience in building such underground complexes, provided technical assistance, trained the Vietnamese to operate the equipment, and worked alongside the Vietnamese carrying out the construction of this complex and in assembling and installing “hundreds of tons” of equipment, including an air filtration system, in the headquarters complex.
