During the early Industrial Revolution the working week meant SIX working days and Sunday as a holy day of the ‘Reformation’.

#The eight (8)-hour day was proposed during early 19th century by the Welsh socialist Robert Owen with the slogan:

“Eight hours’ work, eight hours’ recreation, eight hours’ rest.”

#The term “weekend” was first started in 1879 when factory owners gave workers permission to go home at midday on Saturday.

#During WWI, 48 hours’ work in a week was norm in USA.

#In 1926 minimum 40 hours week started in USA.

#In 1945 two-day weekend started in Britain.

#IN INDIA TWO-DAY WEEKEND STARTED IN JUNE 1985.
